I’m with western express right now and just starting my trucking journey but I’ve been with them 7-8 months but when I started I got in a accident no ticket then got in another accident 2 months later no ticket but not sure if anyone else will hire me cause of the 2 accidents and 1 reckless driving. I’ve driven 18 wheelers for bout 3 years with just my class c license. Never been busted but I was driving “under the table” and now that I decided to go to school and get my class A standard license w/air brake endorsement. No one wants to hire me because I need at least 1 yr documented and verifiable experience. Even if they call and ask my ex employer to verify. It’s still undocumented. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t. I’m out of San Antonio Texas. If anyone reading this is from here or near and can point me in the right direction. Id greatly appreciate it. look up western Express out of Nashville Tennessee they are a second chance company they will hire you when no one will. you will have to sign a 6 months contract that says you will work for them stay with them for one year then you can go anywhere after that i would stay with them two years if you can stay with them bc it looks better plus you have two years of driving experience & you should be good to go then.
If you can prove your car, let’s fight back, I take one table of cough medication, that had cosine. In it, now acting like I’m a drug head, in 25yrs in this industry or other industry I never fail a drugs, you no why, Because I don’t do frugs . I mistake getting treated as if your a criminal. Hello . I’m ready to join a class action. How do I prove I’ve been clean for 30 days before testing positive for cannabis, on a pre-employment test? I’m SAP screwed. Point being the trace that tested positive in no way inhibits or endangers my ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.
I completely lost everything for an open container in 2019 in my personal vehicle in the back seat. I didnt get a court date until 2022 and now I have a disposition date of 2022 so I still can not get a trucking job. I have been on the road since 2014 and It was all taken away from me for driving through a road block with a bottle of alcohol in a bookbag in my back seat.

I wasn’t even at work and was called in and tested for alcohol and terminated. It has been almost 3 years. Was going through back time and it was a ONE-time thing. I have never had a drinking problem and still don’t. I have never and still don’t have any moving violations. I CDL A and B. I have been driving a school bus. Since Oct. 2022 now but looking for full time driving.
Man, it feels as if I am being blackballed by the trucking industry…I am not even a felon, I was terminated because I violated a safety policy (no U-turn policy)…and companies don’t even want to hear my side of the story.
As soon as they contact my former employer and they are told (not even specifics), that I was terminated due to violation of a safety policy, that is it..they don’t want anything to do with me.
This is a bunch of bs man, I have been receiving rejection after rejection and I have never been so depressed in my life.

Brother, I feel exactly how you feel because I am in the same boat…when Western Express denied me employment, I know my career is over.
The beginning of the article mentioned that the charge of arson automatically disqualified a person from obtaining a CDL. I wanted to correct this statement. I have an arson charge and a possession of a firebomb charge from 1989. I obtained my CDL one month ago. Now whether or not I’ll be able to obtain employment with these charges is still to be seen.
I wasn’t working for no one went took pre drug test came up positive but I was not working what I do on my off time shouldn’t affect my work truck driver need work license like doctor barber shop guys why should I be held back cause of my off time it when iam on duty if I broke that rule I can break over hours not working right?

My husband was let go because on his off time, he had 1 CBD gummy. He completed the SAP program, ( over one singular gummy ) and nobody will accept SAP drivers. It is fully legal in most states, he should not have lost all ability to drive over pot. Companies are always complaining about lack of drivers! Well, accept SAP program graduates, and you will not have lack of drivers!
Its crazy that I lost my ability to drive and now I have to complete SAP because I ate 1 CBD GUMMY that I honestly thought was candy. They need to really change these laws good people make mistakes and shouldn’t be punished for ever we have families to take care!!! But hey if its not them who really cares right smh

I think it’s stupid to be turned down because of a minor substance abuse failed drug test. If a felon can be hired why is a minor substance offense so awful? Just don’t make sense to me at all.
