Always be careful when you know you have a felony regardless of how long it has been. Home Depot in my state will not hire felons. If you for some reason don’t make it through the background check consider Community College and find a trade you are interested in such as Plumbing or electrician Good luck. Take care.
I completely agree. Going into trades will give you a much better salary / career, and the many smaller companies never do background checks. Also you can always go on your own once you get licensed, and even the better living and working for a boss.
I’m being your own boss most homeowners will never ask about your background. I’ve been a contractor for over 15 years and not one client asked me about the background.
To get a license in any trade in my border state is not easy more likely denied. But illegals and migrants can get a license since they are not in the system yet. But still community college and getting a certificate or degree in a trades is still the way to go.
I have to agree with the other commenters here. I was extended a job offer in Georgia only to be called and informed that they were receding the offer when they saw a pending case. Home Depot is so unfriendly to felons that even pending cases are disqualifying. Screw Home Depot.
New Mexico unfortunately is not kind to felons. They are the lowest form of human in this state. You are better off getting into a trade program at a local community college and apply for a Pell Grant.
Yeah I got red flagged form HR for a non-aggravated drug charge from 5 years ago! In Hobbs NM, I just want to say thank to the C.E.O of Home Depot and the HR Department for discriminating and dehumanizing me! For a mistake I made in the past when I was young and immature. I obtained my CDL and hazmat endorsement after I picked up charges, the TSA gave me a chance but y’all at the Home Depot couldn’t? Nope. This is another company that does not hire felons of any kind.
Home Depot always begs me to apply in New Mexico. Heck no, I don’t waste my time. If you have any kind of police record you will not get hired. They don’t care how much education and work experience you have you will never get hired anywhere. They would ratyer hire migrants with no work experience and don’t know who they are or if they have a criminal record. Americans with a police record are tossed aside like waste no value to them at all. The bottom of American priority.
